CHPL T-Shirt Design Contest

Love the library? Get creative and show us what you got!

We are hosting a T-Shirt Design Contest â€“ for all ages!


CONTEST DETAILS

  • There are two entry categories:
    • 14 years old and younger
    • 15 years old and older
  • Designer must be a current Cherry Hill resident.
  • The design must highlight the Cherry Hill Public Library as the Heart of the Community and include the library name.
  • Images will be evaluated based on originality, simplicity, creativity and overall public image conveyed. 
  • All designs must be original (submissions using copyrighted photos, images or slogans will be disqualified).
  • The design can be no larger than 11.5 inches by 14 inches with a maximum file size of 10MB.
  • Accepted file types: .AI, .EPS, .PDF, .PNG or .JPG.
  • The design can only have the following four colors: red, purple, white, and black.

Winners will have their design printed on t-shirts to be purchased by the community.

Winners will also receive a $25 gift card, courtesy of the Friends of the Library.

National Library Week: Food for Fines

It's National Library Week and we are in a very forgiving mood! Donate non-perishable food items and we will forgive your fines. (not included in fine forgiveness: lost materials, DVD rental/renewal, and interlibrary loan fees).

Bring your food donation to the Circulation Desk. For each food item you will get a fine forgiven.

Food donations will be delivered to the Food Pantry at Jewish Family & Children's Services. Items needed include:

• Cold and hot cereal, granola bars, cereal bars, oatmeal
• Canned fruit
• Canned vegetables
• Instant mashed potatoes
• Soups
• Jars of prepared tomato sauce
• Pasta, noodles, spaghetti, macaroni
• Canned fish: tuna, salmon, gelfite fish
• Bottles of kosher grape juice
• Juice packs, apple and tomato juice, evaporated milk, coffee, tea
• Desserts: cookies, crackers, puddings, apple sauce

Pet Supplies Collection for Voorhees Animal Orphanage

Support local pets in need! CHPL is collecting pet supplies for cats and dogs throughout the month of July. All supplies will be donated to the Voorhees Animal Orphanage (VAO). Please drop off only new or gently used items. No open bags of food or treats will be accepted. See below for the VAO wish list:

  • leashes/harnesses/collars
  • cleaning supplies (paper towels, garbage bags, bleach, etc.)

November is Food Drive Month! Support Cherry Hill Township and the Cherry Hill PBA 176 and help your neighbors by donating non-perishable food. Items will be distributed by the Cherry Hill food Pantry and the JFCS Food Pantry.

  • Thanksgiving items (cranberry sauce, instant mashed potatoes, stuffing, etc.)

Teen Winter Reading Program

Cherry Hill Teens in grades 6-12 can read to win this winter! Log minutes spent reading, write book reviews, attend programs, and complete missions for a chance to win one of our weekly prizes and grand prizes.

Registration opens and logging begins Monday, December 4th. You will need a library card number to register. The last day to log activity and purchase raffle tickets is Monday, January 15.

Donations for Stray Cat Relief Fund

The Cherry Hill Public Library is proud to be a donation site for the Stray Cat Relief Fund from January 2 - 31. Please check our winter hours when visiting our Library and scheduling a drop off of items. 

Items needed for cat supply donations include:
cat and kitten food (wet and dry)
clumping cat litter
litter trays

Donations will go directly to the Stray Cat Relief Fund. They are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides homes and care to the stray cats of New Jersey and Philadelphia. Your donations help offset the cost of caring for abandoned and neglected cats as they are prepared for a new chance to enter a loving home. Learn more online: www.straycatrelieffund.org

Little Mentors Collection for Children in Need

The Cherry Hill East Little Mentors group is in need of supplies for children in need. Please drop off donations in the lobby of the library during business hours.

The Little Mentors empower one friend at a time and aim to put smiles on children's faces. The supplies will be going to children under the poverty line (through the Ronald McDonald House), refugee children in Syria, and orphaned children in India.

ESOL Virtual Book Club- Greetings From Nowhere

This book club is for students who want to improve their oral and reading comprehension skills. Each week students will read at home a few chapter of the chosen book. Then students will meet online with other students and the teacher.  Students will read aloud and the story will be discussed for comprehension. Citizenship Preparation

Registration is required.  

This class is for people who plan to take the United States citizenship test. The goal of the class is to have all the students in the class become citizens of the United States. There are weekly one-hour sessions for 5-6 weeks.

 To prepare for the test the two instructors will help students 1) understand the questions on the application to take the test;  2) study the questions about history, government, geography and national traditions that may be asked during the test;  3) practice the reading and writing sections of the test;  4) review conversational skills necessary to pass the test. The class is designed for active participation by the students and there is time each week to answer questions the students may have.
