Event Details

Love the theater? Want to meet others who feel the same way? Did you know that many famous shows started as books? Join Councilwoman and Cherry Hill West English Teacher Carole Roskoph for a discussion of books that became theatrical productions. For this session, we will discuss Wicked: the Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, by Gregory Maguire. This book inspired the hit Broadway play, Wicked, which won three Tony awards. Please note that this book is 406 pages.

About the book: Wicked views the land of Oz, its inhabitants, its Wizard and the Emerald City, through a darker and greener (not rosier) lens. Brilliantly inventive, Wicked offers the reader a radical new evaluation of one of the most feared and hated characters in all of literature - the much maligned Wicked Witch of the West (who may not be as Wicked as imagined).

Registration required. Seats are limited; register early! If you will not be able to attend, please contact us. If there is inclement weather: Thursday, February 20 is the back-up date.
