Event Details

Author Irene Levy Baker will present her book Unique Eats and Eateries of Philadelphia: sweet and spicy stories behind 90 not-to-be-missed restaurants in the Philadelphia region. Discover how two chocolatiers got engaged; hear about dinners interrupted by bungled mob hits; restaurants that survived a fire, an earthquake and even Prohibition; a secret restaurant that began in a backyard tent, and more. Learn how to get reservations at trendy restaurants and find your way into secret speakeasies. Find the most sinful desserts, where senior citizens dine with college seniors, where to taste goat, and where you can spot celebrities too.

Irene Levy Baker, also the author of 100 Things To Do In Philadelphia Before You Die, has spent more than 25 years eating her way through Philadelphia’s restaurants. After working at the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau, she opened Spotlight Public Relations, a public relations firm specializing in restaurants and hospitality. What she has learned working one-on-one with chefs, restaurant owners, food writers, and diners will satisfy your appetite for a good meal and a great story.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing at the event.
