Dr. Lawrence Hogan will present on the history of black professional baseball in Atlantic City and the social, communal and civic legacy of one of its greatest players, Baseball Hall of Fame shortstop John Henry “Pop” Lloyd. This program also covers the restoration of historic Pop Lloyd Stadium in Atlantic City.

You will also meet Veteran Negro Leaguer Pedro Sierra who played for the Detroit Stars in the 1950s and writer, musician and playwright, Kevin Kane, will perform his “Breaking the Line with the Mudville Nine” the negro league version Casey at the Bat from which was first performed in 2013 at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY.

About the Presenter: Dr. Lawrence Hogan is Professor Emeritus at Union County College and author of The Forgotten History of African American Baseball. He is also the Executive Director of the documentary Before You Can Say Jackie Robinson: Black Baseball In the Era of the Color Line and is nationally recognized for his work on the history of Negro League Baseball.
