NJ Makers Day is a celebration of maker culture, with programs that include hands-on DIY projects and tinkering, as well as events that encourage invention and innovation. Participating sites include various types of libraries, museums, makers, and makerspaces across the New Jersey. Learn more at www.njmakersday.org.  Our Jr Friends will also be selling comic books and graphic novels from 12 p.m.-3 p.m.
  • 10 a.m.-4 p.m. - Garden State Discovery Museum - The museum will be offering a family-friendly spin-art craft. 
  • 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. – Crochet 101 - Learn the basics of this relaxing and practical craft. Bring a skein of Sugar ‘n Cream cotton yarn and a size H crochet hook. Registration required.   
  • 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. - Learn About Sensors - In this session, you’ll learn all about the various kinds of sensors that exist for electronics projects with tools like Arduino and Raspberry Pi. We’ll also create a circuit that tells us when it's getting too hot or cold in a room and discuss many other possibilities. All ages. Registration required. 
  • 11 a.m.-12 p.m. —Needlework Guild —Do you knit, crochet, or do needlework of any kind? Would you enjoy meeting others with similar interests?
  • 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Lego Robotics – The First Inspires Team from Samuel S. Yellin 
  • Middle School in Stratford will lead a discussion and demo about how they design, build and program Legos. Learn more at www.firstinspires.org.
  • 12 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. - Storytellers: Build Your Own Card Game - Local card and board game designer, Jason Tagmire, will host a class about designing games. You’ll get hands on experience in making your own game and building it from idea to playable prototype.8 and up.required.
  • 12 p.m. - 3 p.m. – Demos, Crafts & More - Stop by the Conference Center for 3D printing demos, Raspberry Pi demos including a RetroPi, build a roller coaster for marbles, stop by the origami station, and create your own LED greeting cards (while supplies last).   The Westfield Friends School will also join us to demo their maker equipment.
  • 2 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. - Drones, Drones, Drones – Professor and technologist, Timothy Cwik, will discuss personal and commercial drones, current trends in the industry and you’ll also have a chance to check out some drones up close. No registration. 
  • 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. - S4A: Computer Programming with Scratch and Arduino - Interested in computer programming? S4A is a Scratch modification that allows for simple programming of the Arduino open source hardware platform. Ages 8 and up. Registration required.
